Rooftop Revolutionaries are a modern hard rock band from Los Angeles, CA. Unlike many contemporary bands, Rooftop Revolutionaries express political and social views in their songs, blending a message with a punishing sound similar to that of Shinedown, Chevelle and Alice in Chains. Rooftop Revolutionaries create music for the movement to Get Money Out of politics; to return the power to the people. Every issue in this country, from education, health care, war, poverty, economy and the environment can be traced back to the corrupting influence of money in politics. Rooftop’s music is a medium to fight that corruption, to engage through entertainment and to push for change.

Performance highlights include South by Southwest, Sirius XM and Showtime’s “The Green Room with Paul Provenza.” A sense of humor always helps, as Captain Danger has provided theme music for both Bill Nye The Science Guy and Howard Stern. The 3-piece band features songwriter/guitarist Aaron Steinberg, bass ninja André Berry (Tribe Called Quest, George Duke, Brothers Johnson) and drum powerhouse Roger “Joose” Benford (Shafiq Husayn, Robert DeLeo). Currently the band is hard at work on a new album. Captain Danger believes the road les traveled should feel like a great place to be – with an affinity for the underdog, the band is always ready with a sweet taste of melody and a funky good time.

MEAR ONE (Kalen Ockerman) has been at the forefront of LA’s graffiti and mural culture for nearly three decades. He is famous for having pioneered the Melrose graffiti art movement in the late 80s and is considered by many to be LA’s most prolific public muralist. Early on in his career, MEAR gained his recognition for building the bridge between graffiti art and fine art. He was the first graffiti artist to exhibit at the infamous 01 Gallery on Melrose, as well as at 33 1/3 Gallery in Silverlake, where Banksy would later debut his first North American show. MEAR ONE’s work was part of the landmark Art in the Streets 2011 exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. He is perhaps best known for constructing powerful narratives juxtaposing philosophy, ancient mythology and modern politics to inspire an evolved conscious. This interpretation of reality is achieved through balanced dialogue between realism and the supernatural. MEAR ONE helps us envision the sublime spirit of our time – not by escaping reality, but by confronting it head on.
Poverty of Spirit
Short Film by Michael Hamermaster.
“In echo of the original zeitgeist series, comes a film that connects the powerful insights of MLK, Ram Dass, and Buckminster Fuller to the growing state of disparity in contrast to the incredible feasibility of a abundant sustainable future. This film seeks to illuminate these contrasts and the static systems that undermine the future of humanity, revealing a violent inefficiency that holds the planet and nearly all of its inhabitants at hostage. A poverty exists that stifles the world’s potential, clouding the realization of what humanity can already be, A poverty of the spirit.”

Silva presented his Radical Openness videos at the opening keynote at Microsoft TechEd. http://thisisjasonsilva.com/
